Long-distance move from Bluffton, SC to Milwaukee, WI

Coleman Allied Movers Is a Poor Excuse for a Moving Company

Having moved numerous times, Coleman Allied is the worst company I've ever used. It's extraordinarily hard to find a reputable mover if you want to leave South Carolina. Coleman Allied is NOT a reputable mover. No one told me I would receive an email that included the inventory list of my belongings ahead of time -- which would be from easydpserver@covan.com as opposed to the company email -- which, as a result, I missed. As a security precaution, I don't open emails from parties I don't recognize. I later learned someone from the company was supposed to follow up with me and check to see if I received the email. That didn't happen. No one told me I was responsible for checking in my items as they were delivered. As he left my home, the driver informed me that no one ever gave him my inventory list, so nothing had been checked in. I later learned he was responsible for picking it up before he arrived at my home in Milwaukee, WI. Several items were broken due to poor packing on the part of the company employees. In addition, a few items were lost. At this point, it's easier to replace these items myself. What's so galling is that moving is a leap of faith, and I did everything I could to make my move go smoothly. I followed through on everything I said I would do. Unfortunately, the employees I interacted with during my move didn't share the same level of commitment concerning their responsibilities. The one exception was Calvin Barnett, who executed his job responsibilities and was a man of his word.

Long-distance move from Chattanooga, TN to Wooster, OH

Unprofessional and Unethical Movers

Regrettably, I used Coleman/Allied Van Lines for my out-of-state move in June 2022. Overall, the experience was nightmarish and traumatic. More specifically, it was characterized by: 1) a lack of consistent and clear communication from the outset regarding my exact delivery date; 2) a failure to provide timely updates after my “pack, load, and haul” confirmed by David Voyles on June 9th unexpectedly changed into a “pack and load” on June 16th less than a week before my scheduled move; 3) a failure to adhere to the delivery date of June 24th confirmed on June 10th by David V. The shipment arrived July 12th, seventeen days late; 4) damaged leather and handcrafted solid wood furniture along with other items; 5) and a stolen television.

On July 12, 2022, my things were finally delivered. My leather and handcrafted solid wood furniture was damaged because it was not packed properly at the point of origin or handled carefully when it was transferred to storage (without my consent) for nearly three weeks. My television was stolen. The delivery of my shipment by Coleman American/ Allied Van Lines was delayed by seventeen days from the delivery date confirmed by David Voyles. I paid rent for an empty apartment and incurred other expenses as a consequence of this delay. It was extremely difficult to manage without a proper bed, work-related materials, cookware, clothing, and personal care items. While I was able to buy clothes and essentials to tide me over, everything else I simply had to do without.

Last but not least, I have submitted claims for the missing and damaged property as well as the delayed shipment. Here is my actual list of missing/damaged items.

*32 Inch HD SMART TV STOLEN

*4-Tier Chrome Wire Shelving MISSING-Hardware (sleeves and other assembly parts  all missing; shelves cannot be reassembled)

*Six-Drawer Double Dresser DAMAGED- drawers broken (2); wood torn away

*Handcrafted Solid Wood Dresser (Champagne) DAMAGED-drawer broken

*Handcrafted Solid Wood Framed Mirror

(Champagne) DAMAGED-Wood stripped from mirror; damage to bolt

*Handcrafted Solid Wood Nightstand

(Champagne) DAMAGED-Wood stripped

*Two Drawer and One Bottom Shelf Solid Wood  Coffee Table (Acacia) DAMAGED-Nicks along the bottom of every leg

*Handcrafted Solid Wood Avondale Credenza/Sideboard DAMAGED-Finish removed

*Lemanns Brown Club Chair DAMAGED-Leather upholstery; water damage; torn underneath; wooden legs damaged

*Lemanns Brown Sofa DAMAGED-Leather on back, bottom, top and side scraped; liner underneath torn; sofa wooden legs damaged

*Samsonite Suitcase (1) DAMAGED-Handle destroyed

*Bulletin Board (1) DAMAGED-Black border along the front scraped

*Ironing Board (1) DAMAGED-Cover torn; inoperable

*Box Springs (2) RUINED/DAMAGED-(2)  Box springs were not wrapped at all or put in cartons/mattress bags when loaded into the truck or transferred to storage; Exposed to dirt, bacteria,  sweat, and insects

*Mattresses  (2) RUINED/DAMAGED-Mattresses were not wrapped at all or put in cartons/mattress bags when loaded into the truck or transferred to storage; Exposed to dirt, bacteria, sweat, and insects

Plastic Storage Bin (1) DAMAGED-Lid Broken

Large Wine Glass (1) Damaged-Broken

The final cost was $6,441.71 for services poorly rendered in the form of a seventeen-day delay and damaged and missing items. I am relieved that this ordeal with Coleman American/Allied Van Lines is over. I would never recommend this detestable, unscrupulous moving company to any shipper. The experience was a nightmare and the ultimate cost was high. The anxiety, frustration, regret all negatively impacted my health and overall well-being. Next time, I will choose a mover who will honor the terms of the signed agreement, who will work with trained, experienced movers, and who will be both ethical and reliable. To be sure, I will choose better. Good luck with your move and choose wisely.

Long-distance move from Colonial Heights, VA to Olive Branch, MS

VERY LATE delivery - Non-responsive to requests for information

I can't say enough good things about those who packed our belongings. They did an excellent job. We had many breakable items, lots of dishes, glasses, glass cookware, pictures, etc. Only a very few of these arrived damaged. However, that's where the great service ended. Whoever scheduled the move (1600 square ft house, estimated by the moving company personnel to be 13550 lbs) sent a truck that was ALREADY 60% FULL!!! This resulted in them having to send additional trucks and personnel. Given this was not planned, chaos ensued due to no single person being in charge. Items were being loaded without identifying tags, the required forms weren't being filled out. I called the move coordinator and complained. She then made a call to the personnel on site and some, not much, but some order was restored. So, instead of all of my items being on one truck, they are now on 3 different trucks. Two of those are local trucks, so I'm told the items in them will be taken to the local warehouse and packed on a long distance truck. What I'm NOT TOLD is that they won't arrive along with the items loaded on the originally scheduled long distance truck. Then, the long distance truck breaks down. It takes over 5 days to repair the truck. Do you think they brought another truck so items would arrive on time? Well, no, they DID NOT. DIDN'T receive any communication for days from the move coordinator. Finally, 3 days after original delivery date, the truck driver called to say he'd be here the following day. When he arrived, he off loaded items he had on the long distance truck and asked me to sign forms indicating delivery of ALL items. I refused to sign forms for items that weren't on his truck and therefore not delivered. After some discussion he finally relented and wrote that items weren't included on the forms. It's now 3 + weeks since my guaranteed delivery date and I'm still waiting on about 4500 lbs of items. I have yet to hear from anyone in management despite repeated requests that someone call me. I also filled out and submitted the on line complaint form to no avail.

Long-distance move from Adkins, TX to Puyallup, WA

Long Distance from Texas to Washington

Using Coleman Allied was a huge mistake. Their customer service people are extremely untrained. Never call back, never answer questions, always busy with someone else. Their trucks are not maintained, drivers have to find their own people to help load and unload. They are always making excuses and when my items were lost, delivered to wrong person and damage, Coleman Allied reused to pay me a fair price for my items. I have been waiting since November for them to tell me they will not refund me because some items were not "DETAILED" on the drivers load list. How was I supposed to know they had to give total details. The driver obviously did not since he did not do it to their standards. I provided pictures of all damaged items but they still will not reimburse me and take responsibility. They are not a reputable company, they take your money, in my case $5000+ but holding up their end of the bargain to deliver my belongings properly in the same condition is not a part of their business plan. The adjuster even went so far as to accuse me of losing my own items, which I did not have in my possession, they did. Do not EVER use this company for a move anyplace. You will totally regret it.
